     'Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ.' Phil 4:6&7

St. Patricks Breastplate

     A well known occultist once had recourse to this prayer while under attack from a rival lodge. He and his family survived through the intercession of Jesus Christ.

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort me and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

The Rosary

     The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep in memory certain principle events or mysteries in the history of our salvation, and to thank and praise God for them.

     Make the Sign of the Cross while saying: In the name of the Father, (touch the forehead) and of the Son, (touch the heart) and of the Holy Spirit, (touch the right, then the left shoulder) Amen.

     Now say The Apostles Creed:
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell, the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from there he shall come in glory to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sis, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

     Now on the first bead (this will be on the short chain), say The Our Father: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

     Say three Hail Maries in succession (on the next three beads). Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

     At the interval, where there is no bead say the Glory Be To The Father.
Glory Be To The Father: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and every shall be, world without end. Amen.

     At the medal, announce or meditate on the First Mystery which you have chosen. Say the Our Father.

    Say ten Hail Maries in succession, on the ten succeeding beads.

    Say the Glory Be where the beads end in a break.

     Announce the Second Mystery, and say the Our Father.

     Say ten Hail Maries in succession.

     Say the Glory Be.

     Repeat this plan until you return to the center medal, and have announced all five of the Mysteries.

     End the Rosary with Hail, Holy Queen.
Hail, Holy Queen: Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy; our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of Thy womb Jesus; O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

     Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

     Let Us Pray: O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life; grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries in the most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Amen!

The Magnificat (Song of Mary)

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed;
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is His name.

He has mercy on those who fear Him
in every generation.

He has shown the strength of His arm
He has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones
and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich He has sent empty away.

He has come to the help of His servant Israel for He has remembered His promise of mercy,
the promise He made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children forever.
Luke 1:46-55

The Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they Shall be called the sons of God.
Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely,
for My sake.

Prayer in Time of Suffering

     Behold me, my beloved Jesus, weighed down under the burden of my trials and sufferings. I cast myself at Your feet, that You may renew my strength and my courage, while I rest here in Your Presence.
     Permit me to lay down my cross in your Sacred Heart, for only Your infinite goodness can sustain me; only Your love can help me bear my cross; only Your powerful hand can lighten its weight. O Divine King, Jesus, whose heart is so compassionate to the afflicted, I wish to live in You; suffer and die in You. During my life be to me my model and my support; at the hour of my death, be my hope and my refuge. Amen.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
In green pastures He gives me repose;
beside restful waters He leads me;
He refreshes my soul.
He guides me in right paths
for His names sake.
Even though I walk in the valley of the shadown of death
I fear no evil; for You are at my side
with Your rod and Your staff
that give me courage.
You spread the table before me
in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Oly goodness and kindness follow me
all the days of my life;
and I shall dwell in the house of Lord
forever.

The Act of Contrition

Let's not forget how to start the whole salvation procedure!

     O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee. And I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishements; but most of all, because they offend Thee my God, who art all good and worthy of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen.

Had Enough 'Good-Luck' E-Forwards?

...that seem to be never ending, are totally silly, and don't bring the miracle good luck they promise? Why not give God a try? It couldn't hurt, and He would love to hear from you. And, while He doesn't promise to say yes to every request, He does listen, He always responds, and He always keeps His hand on your shoulder through thick and thin, up or down, right or wrong.
      It's simple, easy, and you can do it from anywhere- the car, the kitchen, the bathtub. Just wish for His presence. He'll be there.

Novena

     When you have a definite special request for heavens attention, many people swear by the Novena. Doing a novena doesn't guarantee the request will be granted, but that it will come to the special notice and attention of a particular heavenly presence. It definitely gives your intention more leverage!
     'No fixed rules need be laid down, generally speaking, for the making of a novena beyond that of persevering to pray through the space of nine days. The efficacy of the novena prayers depends in great measure on the piety and devotion of the individual.'
To increase the fervor of our novena prayers; 1) participate in the public novena service if it is available; 2) receive the Holy Sacraments during your novena, 3) Promise an act of public gratitude should your petition be granted, for the encouragement of others, and 4) invite others to join in the novena services.
     You can pray the novena for nine hours, for nine days; or simply for nine days; or every Tuesday for nine weeks, or nine months; or whatever combination you favor. You can write your prayer and read it; write it and burn it in a candle flame; pray it over a candle, or a stream of water; or at a window overlooking the city or the country; or in the car before starting out for work.
     You can wear a special bracelet with nine beads to remind you of your novena, or a pin in the shape of a rose. Or add a star on the bulletin board for every prayer.
     If your prayer isn't granted, thank God, who knows best, that He took care of you, and withheld from you what was not good for you. When your request is granted, publicly thank God and the angel who looked after your novena, and do share your testimony with others, who may need a miracle too.
     God Bless!
